They're doing Daft Punk better than Daft Punk has for the last decade or so, so I'll take it (most of their other stuff is more funk influenced; this is definitely the most modern-DEM-sounding I can think hearing from them).

Hmm, the songs I heard from Random Access Memories were pretty great. They did use live session players on that one though so it might not be as purely electronic as you'd like.

You meant EDM, right?

Btw, that quirky video seems right up Nuna's alley.

Hey there goes Alex. He's loaded with money. Wow he's really set himself up great.

Random Access Memories is incredible. One of my favorite records ever.

That TWRP track and video feel like homages to earlier dance genres, as well as to Daft Punk. I thought the shot where she’s wearing a welder’s mask seemed like a little joke.

Daft Punk itself is an homage to earlier dance genres albeit through a unique and fun electronic aesthetic performed by "robots."

^^^
Along the lines of what Daft Punk did-

It MIGHT be cool for Rush to reconvene with other songwriters and singers to record an homage to Rush.

I would say YYNOT is already doing that but they're a more commercial sounding band than Rush was during their greatest era.

There's sort of a resurgence in this 80's-nostalgia-thing.  YYNOT, Chromeo, Jamiroquai, TWRP, and Daft Punk are all involved in a sort of neo-disco, neo-electronica thing that's making much more interesting dance music.

(And I'll give you Random Access Memories; that was a genuinely good album.  Much of their other output in that time period has been quite underwhelming)

labente deinde paulatim disciplina velut desidentes primo mores sequatur animo, deinde ut magis magisque lapsi sint, tum ire coeperint praecipites, donec ad haec tempora quibus nec vitia nostra nec remedia pati possumus perventum est.

First our declining morals slid, bit by bit, and then our very national spirit.  Then the collapse became greater and greater, and our principles began to go, until at last, it has come to this age, in which we can bear neither our crimes nor the cure for them.

There was also an '80s and disco retro thing going on in the 2000s. Goldfrapp had a lot of success with it.

Here's an obscure LA indie band called Music Go Music that cooked up this proggy disco concoction.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Gold (compilation).

"Can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing, I ain't pretty, and my legs are thin.

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to."
