That EWI solo is awesome.  It's a synth...  except a clarinet.

This is movement one of a ridiculous modern jazz piece by Adam Neely, the coolest jazz bassist online (he plays, among other things, a Fender jazz)

The third movement is, according to Adam, a metal song written for jazz band.

And the resolution in the fifth movement is gorgeous.

You'll have to check out movements 2 and 4 yourself.  The live performance that they recorded is all online, including the encore, "hey man have you checked out meshuggah's new album yet?"

labente deinde paulatim disciplina velut desidentes primo mores sequatur animo, deinde ut magis magisque lapsi sint, tum ire coeperint praecipites, donec ad haec tempora quibus nec vitia nostra nec remedia pati possumus perventum est.

First our declining morals slid, bit by bit, and then our very national spirit.  Then the collapse became greater and greater, and our principles began to go, until at last, it has come to this age, in which we can bear neither our crimes nor the cure for them.

I heard about this on The World today and I freaking love it.  Daphne Guinness, yes, THAT Guinness, has a new album and this is the song I heard from it.  It's Riot...super cool.  Love it...!

Yes, the song is called Erotic Cakes.  Yes, Guthrie Govan is a monster.  And that's Marco Minneman on the skins.  Also a beast.

Since, when I learned Latin, it was all about reading/writing, and we did next to no speaking, I'm still trying to work on my spoken Latin.

I recently pulled that one out of the vault. Sounds as good as ever.

Avenged Sevenfold.

Still obsessed with The Stage in particular. Best overall album since Tool's Lateralus in 2001.

It's good, but better than Haken's The Mountain?  No way.

And now that you've got me thinking about the album, I'm listening to "Cockroach King."

When I ride the train from central Bangkok in to work and back every day, I listen to, and watch, the following. Some version of this is played on the train video screens rather often.

(I think it is only fair that all of you should have to have this melody stuck in your head, just like I do. You want the Train to Bangkok? This is the reality. (Though I do like the outfits))
