Never performed with a Slingerland or a Ludwig
black beauty.

Most of my gear has been middle of the line my whole life.

Lemme see. I've owned a Rick, P-bass, J-bass and a MusicMan. Noodled with a Steinberger, an Alembic and a Wal. Even owned some Moog Taurus pedals for a while. So I can't really say I haven't played anything iconic. Just for a midlife crisis, I'd love to own a Steinberger.

Hey...where's Perry?

All of them.

They said I could be anything, so I became a disappointment.

Gibson make some quite nice Steinberger copies. They don’t hang right though, so Middle C is a few inches to the left of where you expect. Good sitting down instruments.

Iconic instruments I've not played:

Steinberger (bass or guitar)

Gretsch Guitars of any kind (though I admire them)

Orange Amps

Fender Precision Bass (OMG!)

Gibson Bass of any kind

Martin D-45

Gibson Firebird

Gibson Flying V

Gibson Explorer

Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck

Alembic anything

G&L anything

Superb Iconic Instruments I have played that are noteworthy

1959 Les Paul - At a Don Felder guitar clinic.  I asked, and he let me

1956 Fender Tweed Deluxe Narrow Panel - also at the Don Felder clinic

Dumble Overdrive Special Amp - At a Robbin Ford guitar clinic.  I asked and he let me.  OMG this is a unicorn!

1957 Les Paul "Black Beauty" - a very well off friend of mine who used to play in a garage band with me has one.  Like buttah!

Pretty much all of them. Does playing Stairway to Heaven on a Les Paul at Guitar Center count?

I have a natural finish Martin acoustic that still smells like the tree it was fashioned from. But I suppose the most truly iconic instrument I own is a 1983 black and white Gibson Explorer.

Hey there goes Alex. He's loaded with money. Wow he's really set himself up great.

Oh that's right, I played a rich kid's Flying V for a high school gymnasium performance of Don't Fear the Reaper. No, there wasn't a cowbell present. But that would have been iconic.
