I'm really starting to love this band.  I listened to this song a lot after I had my back surgery:

It's too bad they didn't get into RRHOF.  Maybe next year.  They deserve it.  They rock.

When I ask myself what was the "Nirvana Nevermind" of metal in the 80s, Screaming for Vengeance seems to be it.  Sure Judas Priest was big before that, but that album had the best sound and struck the best pop/metal balance for the band.  A lot of people say Mental Health by Quiet Riot, but to me that was just big from a sales perspective but not a sound/direction one.

My favourite tracks from Screaming for Vengeance:

You Got Another Thing Comin'

The Hellion

Pain and Pleasure

I was really blown away when I saw them playing at the Monsters of Rock before Ozzy's set.

Rob has an amazing stage presence.  His outfits and that motorcycle are so badass.

They got rather silly and went downhill rapidly after Killing Machine.

Old Priest Good, New Priest Bad, Paedophile Priest Evil.

I like the early albums best. They did seem to go cartoon-metal from British Steel on. I really loved them back in the late '70s and that live album they did, despite the questionable authenticity of its status as a bona-fide live record, was terrific.

Standout album - Sad Wings Of Destiny.

Saw them twice, in March 1980 (supported by Maiden) then 25 years later in the same venue, the Manchester Apollo.

Unleashed in the East is the best live metal album ever made.

Yeah, they're pretty awesome.

Was listening to them and AC/DC a lot this year.

The Painkiller album kicks ass. I'd never heard a Priest album that heavy before

Many artists are on the ballet numerous times prior to their induction into the RRHOF. Black Sabbath was nominated 8 times before they finally got in. Here's Rob's letter:

ric-ocasek-the-cars-q-and-a-d5c499aa-fc6!2665.pngCleveland, Ohio, holds a special place in the heart of Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. It's the town where he learned to love music and first met his future Cars bandmate Benjamin Orr. It's the first place he ever played his songs in front of an audience. And on April 14th, he'll go back there to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "It's kind of a whole beginning and end," he tells us by telephone, "although I don't think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the end, but it's a long journey that vaguely started in Cleveland and vaguely comes to some resolve in Cleveland again."

RELATED

Cars Drummer David Robinson on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: 'I Had A Feeling'
Robinson essentially retired from the music business when the Cars split in 1987, but says he's eager to perform at the induction ceremony
Ocasek spoke to us about the honor, what songs he thinks the Cars will play that night, the possibility of a future Cars album and tour, and why things have never felt the same since bassist Benjamin Orr died in 2000.

Congratulations.
Thank you! It's pretty nice. I'm pretty grateful we were accepted.

This song is just way too much fun.

I've never been on a motorcycle, but I rode one of these when we went to the cottage for Xmas:
