Especially funny because Tron was shit to begin with.

Wait, I'm thinking of the Tron video game.  That thing was complete shit.

A review and a follow-up from Bob Chipman to it for anyone interested.

labente deinde paulatim disciplina velut desidentes primo mores sequatur animo, deinde ut magis magisque lapsi sint, tum ire coeperint praecipites, donec ad haec tempora quibus nec vitia nostra nec remedia pati possumus perventum est.

First our declining morals slid, bit by bit, and then our very national spirit.  Then the collapse became greater and greater, and our principles began to go, until at last, it has come to this age, in which we can bear neither our crimes nor the cure for them.

A review and a follow-up from Bob Chipman to it for anyone interested.

Some smart analysis there but the steady stream of verbal diarrhea is hard to take. I know Internet speed is faster than real life speed but this guy makes Philip DeFranco sound like Howard K. Smith.

I saw RP1 on dvd recently and thought is was fun enough but was disappointed to see the Rush related plot sequence had been left out. No small cut as it was the clue that led to obtaining the final key. Bob Chipman said the movie improved upon the book by making the clues about Halliday's life and personal motivations rather than knowledge of '80s pop culture. I suppose this could be true but the reason for that decision, imo, was not so much to make the movie better than the book but to expand upon the movie's potential audience. Most people aren't 1980s nostalgia geekazoids on the level of an Ernest Cline or his neck-bearded brethren. The '80s related clues of the book, had they been left in the movie, probably would have been lost on much of today's younger audience. So the book was sold out a bit here, imo.

I was also disappointed that they didn't use Tom Sawyer anywhere on the soundtrack. Not even during the end credits!
