Sad about Neil, but I always felt that was more said than true that he was the "founder" of the grunge sound.  Grunge is a hybrid of punk/metal/arena rock.  It's got more in common with Black Sabbath than Neil Young.

He's not the founder of it but I'd say he actually is the spiritual godfather of it. That's pretty unmistakable to my ears. The hybrid you mentioned is more or less what Neil was doing with Crazy Horse in the '70s. He brought an emotional, majestic slop to hard rock and I think Grunge ended up building upon that aesthetic.

Maybe someone will Periscope it?

This from RIAB:

Although both the ceremony in New York and the live simulcast party in Cleveland have long since sold out, you can still catch an abridged version of the induction ceremony on HBO on Saturday, April 29th. There will also likely be some videos popping up online over the next few weeks.

Geddy joined Yes for Roundabout and absolutely nailed it.

Geddy and Alex then joined Pearl Jam along with a few members of Yes and Journey to end the night with Rocking In The Free World.

What an amazing night.

So was Geddy's mention of Neil in the induction speech a nice way of including him, or a subtle dig at him not being there?

He seems kind of douchey sometimes, but you gotta admit the man can make a guitar sing sweetly.

I think once you get to this point all is forgiven. You take your place in history. It may not always mean so much to the artists but it sure brings vindication to their fans. Was nice to see Ged and Al share the stage once again. Hope that happens again real soon. I'd be happy with an unplugged Ged and Al show just like so many artists are doing these days. If Peter Frampton can do it so could they.

I think once everybody has enough money all is forgiven.

That is the longest stretch of time I've listened to Eddie Vedder sing in many, many moons... and now I remember why.  Good lord, his voice is grating - and I listen to Rush albums.

A better angle of Alex soloing. So, Jeff Ament switched to 6 string acoustic when Geddy came out.

Oops, didn't realize this one had already been posted.
