That can't work. The sun is only there in the daytime and the moon at night. You probably also believe in climate change

Yes, but there is a lake between the sun and moon. Not too many know about this. Ahhhhhh yes.  :CP nickslikk smilie:

Obama couldn't get this done in eight years. Trump only needs a few month. This is the most effective administry since ever. covfefe

I'm too lazy to find the links, but hotels along the line of totality were late to realize the opportunity for gouging rates. So many of them cancelled existing reservations at $130/night, blaming a computer glitch. The new rates are closer to $1000/night, even if you still have the email of the original confirmation.

Geez, I know capitalism ain't for pussies, but that is ridiculous.

I really want to go see this thing, but without a place to stay, it would be a drive-in/drive-out deal. Unfortunately me and 60 million other people have the same idea. Traffic is going to be really really ugly. Screw it...I'll take a pass and witness the 78% coverage from NYC.

Bide my time until April 2024. I have a friend who lives outside Lake Placid right in the path of totality. She doesn't know it yet, but she is hosting.

A lot of this is going on in Lincoln, Bend, and Depoe Oregon, the first area of totality in the lower 48.

There is another in April 2024 that cuts through Lake Placid in the Adirondacks. That one is a lot closer to me. Hopefully it doesn't conflict with the R50 tour dates.

Not to worry, they won't be touring that year. They want to wrap things up with R49 so as not to pay those outrageously gouging hotel rates the following year due to the eclipse.

I'm trying to recall or imagine what "2017" would have sounded like to my 9 year old ears. Would have been hard to grasp for sure.

Watch out everyone!

There are a lot of fake solar eclipse glasses being sold that won't protect your eyes (you need to wear special glasses to look up during a solar eclipse) and could cause blindness.  Remember that during a solar eclipse you won't necessarily feel pain looking directly at what's left of the sun but it can and does cause blindness just the same.  You need protection.

Well, the big day is here and here I sit in my office in midtown Manhattan. Only 72% coverage here,,,oh well, I'll get the next one.

For those in a similar situation, below is  what totality is expected to look like

Everything here is normal. The media hyped it so much, you'd have thought we'd be gridlocked for a couple of days, at least. They even warned us about possible eye damage for our pets, as if they look at the sun or even upward, on a regular basis. Fucking morons.

They said I could be anything, so I became a disappointment.
