I've been on a multi-year quest to explore and accumulate as much of their back catalogue as possible.  Throughout the process I have continually been impressed by the music even with so many personnel changes in the band.  Among the live recordings my current favorites are Palace Springs and Live '79.  For studio releases Choose Your Masques, Space Hawks, and Onward are at the top of my list.

Any other fans of the mighty Hawkwind out there?

NIck, I'm not sure what you mean.  I'll give you that their albums are not consistant, some are good and others not so much.  Yet after all these years they still make inventive and interesting music.

It's all about the inconsistency :) Albumwise anyway, can't recall ever seeing a bad Hawkwind show.

The reviewers in PROG magazine gave quite a good write-up on "The Machine Stops", the latest release from the mighty 'Wind.  After a couple of listens I am not all that impressed although it does sound different from their previous several albums.  Hopefully their next effort (titled "Into the Woods") will be better.

Still grooving on the release titled Palace Springs and in particular the violin playing of Simon House on songs like Back In The Box.  Who knew that violin could be such a cool rock instrument?
