Oh come on 2016. Now John Glenn is gone.

He was a hero of mine. WW2 Marine aviator, first American to orbit the Earth, much later the oldest man in space at 77. Democrat Senator of Ohio. Fought for gay rights. Should have got the Dem nomination in 1984, and I think he would have defeated Reagan to become POTUS.

He is survived by Annie, his wife of 73 years, something of an American hero in her own right as she overcame a crippling speech impediment to campaign for her man.

Dammit, I'm crying.
