Even if temporary, it's still a cryin' shame. What a great place! I can't even tell you how many packages I tied on there over the years. From '93-'96 I was practically a regular. If I wasn't in class, at a Yankees game or a concert, it's a safe bet you could've found my ass there. Thanks DeBlasio.

It's the best shithole there is. I wonder if there is even a Blarney Stone open anymore. They have Keno. Real shitholes but great. Loved the rainbow on the corned beef. So inclusive.

So there's a few rodents scurrying in the basement. It is NYC, after all.

Besides, there used to be a big, gray fat house cat that would chill by the wood burner. Problem solved!

Light or Dark third line.

Dark and a Jamisons back in the day. Cheese, raw onions, and a sleeve of saltines and instant dinner FTW.

^^^ Jeez I saw a couple rats in that video alone! Interesting that it was a gay bar until 1970.

Hey there goes Alex. He's loaded with money. Wow he's really set himself up great.

No way. That place was ahead of its time.

When they finally added a 2nd restroom, it wasn't originally labeled as "women" or "ladies". There was "men's" and "OTHER".

NC HB2 gender neutral third line.

It was a gay neighborhood then.  They moved out, fixed up Chelsea and now that is the gay neighborhood.

I was there a couple months back. I did not see anything scurrying in the sawdust nor any roach droppings in my cheese and onions.

To be fair though, it was the last stop of the day and I could not walk or see straight. Could've been rat piss in my dark for all I knew.

With the four-day mandatory closing passed, it has now reopened!

Glad to hear that. My one and only trip to NYC a few years back included a trip to McSorley's. We loved it - felt like NYC, super busy I had the liverwurst iirc. Enjoyed the conversations with locals.
