The Hip were a big band for me back in the day. Love their first 2 records.

Sucks.  I never got into their early stuff, but enjoyed their '98 to '04 albums - Phantom Power/Music @ Work/In Between Evolution.

I've seen them a few times. Can't believe they'll tour this summer. Gonna have to take in a show. He was always quite eccentric on stage. Will be hard to watch knowing the news.

Agreed.  I've seen them live a couple times too.  Maybe this will raise some cash for his medical costs.

You took the words right out of my mouth.  I don't typically get saddened by celebrity sickness/death announcements, but this one hits hard. I so enjoy seeing this band on stage, with Gord up front.

Got my ticket during the fan presale this morning. Center section, row 12 at the ACC in Toronto on Friday.  Living in Michigan, I thought Rush at the ACC last year would be my last concert ever in Toronto.  It should be an unforgettable night.

2016 has been a fuck of a year for famous musicians.

I like the Hip - some real Canadiana there and Gordo's performances could sometimes be sublime. Had his off nights too but they were the real deal.

Saw then a couple of times and once for when they opened for Rush (RTB tour iirc) but will likely take a pass on this tour - tickets were gobbled up by stubhub pretty quick and are now charging a fortune.

50's Mission Cap and Grace Too - those are my faves but there's a lot to love.

Love you Gord

Final show of the tour in Kingston on Saturday will be broadcast across Canada on the CBC.

Will be streaming and on YouTube, etc.. Plus, Geddy had a few words about The HIp.

I saw the show in Toronto this past Sunday. A few surreal moments. It seems both a sad, yet triumphant way to go out.

Very true and well said.  I drove up to the Friday show and the cheers in between the encores were deafening.  You could tell that Gord was really soaking it all in, relishing the moments.  He truly is enjoying his last days in ways few people can.

He has passed.  Age 53, too young, too soon.
