Every time this topic pops up in my "view new content" list I hear this song in my head

Ha, I was totally going to post this as well.

So?  Did you move?  Damn, you get us all jiggered up and then no posts after the purported move date.

Hello Mith. We have been there two months. We love our new house and have paid the mortgage off. Had to do some minor electrical works. Thought Mrs MT was going to cop rural racism but there has been none - half the people of Cornwall these days are transplanted Londoners and Brummies anyway. We are fairly near the County town of Truro. Mrs MT has not found work yet and I am leaving my employer in six weeks, but we have some savings to tick over on for a while. If I have to stack shelves in Tesco for a while I will do that. I have joined a political party and am getting involved in local activism. I am taking my first faltering steps towards songwriting on GarageBand too. We feel happy.

Sounds great, MT. The important part is being happy. I'm sure the Tories will be grateful for your support.

They said I could be anything, so I became a disappointment.

Don't think so. I occasionally see him post on a European Rush board though.

An update. We have been in rural Cornwall for six months.

There's no natural gas mains supply here so we warm the house with electricity, supplemented on cold evenings with propane cylinders. The people are friendly on the whole, but they hate London. Some of them have never crossed the River Tamar in their lives.

Despite the remoteness, Cornwall has the longest runway in the country and big USAF lifters occasionally come in. There is talk of a spaceport - suborbital SCRAMjets flying to Australia in six hours, and aircraft to lift small orbiters.

The Cornish voted to leave the EU, other than residents of the capital city Truro and the college town Falmouth. This might benefit the fishermen. However Cornwall is identified as the poorest part of the UK, and the EU have been giving a subsidy of £1400 per annum per citizen. That will go in two years. Not good.

But we need a personal appraisal in this update.

Was it a good move for you? Happy? Miss London?

I have managed to find work, though Mrs MT has not. I've got cast in a community theatre production and she has become active at the village community centre. We have made some friends. I feel quite happy.

I don't miss London at all. Noisy, dirty, too much crime, too much stress, and far too many people.

I think he finally despaired of the anti-Muslim sentiment here.  We lost poor Fly.  And Nuna, Hermit, JARG and most of the ladies left.

I posted on the Euro beoard for a while but it seems to be full of Brexiteers so I came back here.  It's not what it was, but nostalgia is strong.....

Yep. Ol' Slim sure loved the Muslims. Until they tried to enter the Chunnel. Then they became vermin.

Hey...where's Perry?

Nostalgia is a mental disorder.

No matter how many times you say it, it still won't be true.

Despite our differences over Islam he was one of my favorite posters here.

Ignorance, prejudice and fear ... because they walk hand in hand.

Fixed.
