Where I live (Binghamton, NY) has been home to the NY Mets AA team for 25 years. They have simply been called the Binghamton Mets or BMets. There have been rumblings in recent years of the team leaving the area. Last year new owners came in and said the team was not going anywhere, but after this season they are being re-branded. They are holding a contest to name the team. They announced the final 6 names proposed. These are not quite Boaty McBoatface or Gushin' Grannies trolling but seriously? The Gobblers, The Rumble Ponies, The Bullheads, The Rocking Horses, The Stud Muffins and The Timber Jockeys? The only one that makes even a remote amount of sense is Bullheads, because we have a lot of fishing spots in the area. The rest, WTELF? According to their website, Gobblers refers to hunting in the area; the rest are all references to carousels. Binghamton is known as the Carousel Capital, because we have, I think 8 carousels in the "Greater Binghamton" area. They were built and donated to parks throughout Broome County by movers and shakers in the early history of the area. Still not seeing it. Maybe it is the Meth/Heroin epidemic?

As long as they come and tow my car when I call them, they can call themselves what they like!

Anything associated with the Mets is usually a shit show...although the tide has turned lately so why change now? 5 years ago...sure, get that name 'Mets' off your uniform, but go in a different direction when things are looking good at the major league level?

Funny how the Wilpons (majority owners of the Mets) don't have a say. Or maybe they do and just don't care. They basically own the rights to the players but don't they have a say where the team is located or what it's called? Guess not.

I voted for Stud Muffins on bmets.com

Our Triple A team used to be affiliated with the Mets. I'm sure we sent many a man up (or down) to Binghamton back in the day.

Whatever you end up calling the team, hopefully you get a decent mascot out of it. The logo is a badass seahorse:

but our mascot is Rip Tide, a walking lump of flotsam:

Portland OR will field a team starting in July that's part of the Great West League (not affiliated with MLB as far as I know) and they will be the Portland Pickles. It wouldn't surprise me if many of the voters chose that one just for it's silliness, what with the "Keep Portland Weird" (blatantly stolen from Austin because, somehow, being weird or unique is a virtue, evidently) thing they have here.

They said I could be anything, so I became a disappointment.

We have Ballwinkle and Buddy the Bee. I'm not really sure what Ballwinkle is supposed to be.

People have been flipping out about the name choices. Someone even started a petition to either leave the old name or come up with different choices.

U.S. auto service is called AAA so it took me a minute to get what you were talking about. :)

Says she's going to LA

But she never got there

She never got there

She never got there, they say-ay

They took her away

Could be worse,RdB. It could have been the Knob Gobblers.

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to."
