Karen and I like hummus, but if we gotta have it, I scratch make it. I have a Middle Eastern Market near the house that has been in the neighborhood longer than I have, 30+ years, and they stock imported tahini that has a stronger flavor than the domestic types, perfect for hummus. That, a can of chickpeas, a bunch of garlic, some lemon juice, a little salt and pepper. Into the food processor till smooth, let sit in the refrigerator to let the flavors marry, and I'm good.
The Syrian family that run the store get fresh pita delivered three times a week, and it disappears from there fast. The same baker also does some killer baklava.
