SP's SJ R40 Review... Mega-ultra Spoilage!

LateRally, that's an interesting observation. Maybe the show just wasn't designed to be engaging to the part of the venue I was in. So, fewer people remained "in" to the show, lacking material they knew or hoped to hear. I don't recall Alex or Ged ever really looking our way or playing "to us." Ged made an effort to interact with the upper level on his side though.
One thing I noticed at this show, people were way more into the songs at the beginning of each set than for any of the rest of the show. The reaction to Moving Pictures is obvious and expected, but I was really surprised how many people were familiar with and enjoying the Clockwork Angels songs.
I guess it's just another reminder that no matter how vocal we the online Rush community are, and how influential we think we are, we do not represent the average Rush fan, and we are indeed the lunatic fringe. Helps explain why it took so damn long to get even a setlist like this. Most people are just fine with the latest songs plus a few of the old stand-bys.
So this part of your comment rings true for me too. For pretty much the rest of the show after TSOR (with the exception of 2112), most people in my area were not into it, and were pretty checked out, even though they were at least standing and not out on piss breaks like I said.

Clockwork Angels hit #2 on the album chart, so it stands to reason a decent number of people are familiar with those tunes.
- grep and EZrhythm like this
labente deinde paulatim disciplina velut desidentes primo mores sequatur animo, deinde ut magis magisque lapsi sint, tum ire coeperint praecipites, donec ad haec tempora quibus nec vitia nostra nec remedia pati possumus perventum est.
First our declining morals slid, bit by bit, and then our very national spirit. Then the collapse became greater and greater, and our principles began to go, until at last, it has come to this age, in which we can bear neither our crimes nor the cure for them.
