I'll miss this place when it's gone.  When is that exactly, anyway?  It's been almost a month since the chaos I didn't know much about until earlier when I 'found' this thread.

Remember when Mark Twain said that the reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated?  When he wasn't dead?  Of course he is dead now.

It's kind of like that.

Mark Twain is not dead. He's been doing KFC commercials lately.

Planets would collide. The Dallas Cowboys would be loved in New York and New Jersey, Time Travel will become possible, The Mets will stop sucking, Nick will fall in love with Hold Your Fire and Presto.... Java will be fast....

Wow, part of that came true.  The one I least expected.....

Oh boy. I think the Mets need about 5 or 6 winning seasons including a couple of championships to shake that stigma

Funny thing is, compare the Mets success (or lack thereof) over the past 50 years to that of the Cubs, Pirates, Brewers, Astros, Mariners, Padres, etc...

I'll take my team, thanks. At least, that's how I rationalized it this morning in order get out of bed.

On a long enough timelines the Mets will suck just as much.  After all, is it not where all the stars go to die?

That was the old Mets who spent money on washed up veterans like Frank Viola, Bobby Bonilla, Vince Coleman, Mo Vaughn, Roberto Alomar, Tom Glavine...oh boy, the list goes on. Since the Wilpons lost a chunk of change with Bernie Madoff, they've been tight with the wallet. Hence rebuilding with the great talent that got them far this year. We'll see what happens when the owners have to pay these guys in several years.

No one has it worse than the Cubbies...just, no one.
