The MSG show was awesome, the boys played their asses off, and the sound was great, crystal clear and beautifully mixed (their best in years). Geddy's voice was in fantastic form (his best in years), I am in awe of his vocal performance from both nights, and he far exceeded the highest expectations I've had of him at this point in time. It's like his voice shedded 15 years for this tour. The great, fast tempos continued, and really kinda were the true highlight of the shows, DEW and Red Barchetta in particular both rocked because they were done right... Fast and furious! Even RTB had a great energy, I didn't mind hearing it at all. Jacobs Ladder and Xanadu killed both nights, the whole second set was so powerful, it was an onslaught of virtuosic excellence. I can't believe they avoided Jacobs Ladder for so long, it was so fucking good! Cygnus 1&2 were so amazing to hear, Closer To The Heart was perfectly placed to ease the fury, and even the very familiar 2112 was on fire.
And Losing It kicked so much ass for the second time!!! I was more elated than emotionally overwrought seeing it for the second time, grinning like an idiot through the whole song, chills running up and down my spine. Kudos to Jonathan Dinklage for two stellar performances this week.
Given a choice I'd say I liked the setlist in NJ better because it felt like such a rarities set, really focused on deep tracks:
How It Is > OLV
Between The Wheels > DEW
The Camera Eye > Red Barchetta
and... Losing It at BOTH shows!!!
Glad I saw both, so I didn't have to make any choices Hands down two of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of attending. If these are indeed my last Rush shows, man I am one happy camper.

The biggest thing I noted in both NYC area shows was that Geddy's voice was back to the 90s in abilities and quality. Definitely shaved a few decades off of his vocal cords. In Newark he reached a bit towards the end, at MSG, he just stayed with it until the end. Was great to see. I'm thinking he probably can push it more on the last show before a break. Given they have more than a week off, looks like he did.
