Did you happen to see any of those desert tortoises in the Mojave part?

They said I could be anything, so I became a disappointment.

We visited DV last year.  It's an interesting place but no real lure to ever go back.  The nearby wildlife refuges and preserves IMO have as much or more to offer (from the purely outdoorsy perspective).  Death Valley is akin to an outdoors gimmick.  It's hot, yeah we get it.  haha

Our return trip to Vegas this year we went to several of the nearby refuge/preserves (mixed in with the climbing related stuff).

Wife has a bad foot (broken ankle years ago).  Longest we hike is 5-6 miles, otherwise she gets into some pain.

We did do one of the smaller (shorter hike/more poipluar) canyons.  The pics aren't in the video.

Frankly, I like mountains and if she's going to suffer we're heading into the hills.  I found the lifeless nature of DV 'cool', but only took half a day for me to long for at least some sage brush, something.

We travel out West on average twice a year, entirely for outdoors stuff (mostly climbing, some birding).  Death Valley ranks pretty low on the wow list compared to other things we've seen.

There's mountains and some great cliffs.   ;)

Joshua Tree also has climbing but it's not the kind of climbing we enjoy most, plus it tends to be really overrun with climbers during the winter months.
