Stumbled across this last night for the first time and was left open mouthed at the content. Competition to eat up to 400 oysters within an hour and a whooping audience to witness.

Leaving aside half the world is starving who the f**k would actually stand and applaud this stuff?

The show did bring attention to a lot of small places with unique food.  Adam Richman has since moved on and denounced this kind of show he used to participate in.  I think it was an interesting angle on a channel that had a ton of touring/food shows already.  These shows are a few years old and being rerun.

That place in Atlanta (Vortex?) where a bunch of us met up before a show was featured once. I think Adam even had the same Bleu shroom cheeseburger I ordered.

I think that's what I ordered there too, (that one time I arrived late for the Vortex meetup but not too late to make sure Susan got as lost as I did on the way to the arena)... back in '02.

I liked this show.  Not sure I'd draw a parallel to starving people and Man v. Food tho.  The food contests were only a part of the show and like Joe said, it showcased off beat cool places that had great food.

Joe, where did AR denounce such shows?  I never heard or saw that...

He's said he'll never do that again.  Said it was his way on television but now people will let him do more.  Said it on his twitter/instagram mostly.
