White-winged dove (Really. Stevie Nicks had the name correct.)

You have the song in your head now, don't you?

Picture taken on bus heading east out of Mexico City towards Puebla. Itzachihuatl is in the center, Popocatepetl on the right.

My wife forgot to take out the ziploc bag with our liquids prior to going through TSA...

Guess what happened?

Nothing.

She realized after we made it "across the border" what she had done.

I told her maybe we should tell them, and have them have us go through again.

We decided not to.

Just FYI.

Maybe they don't see it / don't care?

Or are they inept?

A few years ago I was traveling for work. I had fairly long hair, and on my last day I woke up late and tired and my hair was a little grungy so I just pinned it up pretty tightly with a metal barrette and used a copious amount of hairspray to keep it from moving.

At the end of the work day I went to the airport and my barrette set off the detectors and the agent asked me if I wanted to take it out. As it was pretty glued up I said no, go ahead and pat me down. They groped me pretty good, even feeling the metal wire in my bra the whole length. I endured, grabbed my bags and moved on, and realized at the gate I had not removed my liquids and no one noticed.

They were so concerned with security they had to press all along the underside of my boobs, but my liquids were totally missed.

I feel so safe.

This is a Puebla specialty, Chiles en Nogada, which is a large poblano pepper stuffed with chicken and fruit (!) and is crazy fucking good.

On the PA here they keeping reminding us to never accept items that a stranger has aksed you to take on board.

Has ANYONE ever had this happen to them?

Do people approach you outside the airport with packages asking you to take them? Does this happen to you? And do you typically say "Why, SURE!!"

Well then YOU need to pay more attention to airport PA announcements.

I took my 6-year-old to the natural History Museum in Kensington.  Let's call her Rh.  There was a bag check on the door.

MT:  You have to open your bag to show the security man.

Rh:  My Mummy tells me I must not let people look in my bag.

MT:  Mummy is very wise to say that.  But in this case I am here so you are safe to do so.

Rh: But what is the security man looking for?

MT: Well, sometimes nasty men put nasty things in little girls' bags.  The security man has to check I'm not a nasty man.

Rh: But you're my Grandad.

MT:  True, but the security man doesn't know that.

Rh:  It's OK, I'll tell him.

Sitting here in the Houston airport. Just getting back from 2 days in Puebla, 3 days in Mexico City, and 4 days in Oaxaca. Oaxaca and Puebla are perhaps the two greatest food cities in the country, which is saying a lot.

I must have gained many pounds.

I came in here looking for beach bikini pictures and you give me rat on a plate?  Tell me you don't see rat.  Then you post endless bird and scenery pictures?  You old fart! You're loosing your edge!
