Consider this:

If the Rush camp would only mix Hemi & P-waves in 5.1, we'd have 2112 - Signals in 5.1.

If they would take the plunge and go for CoS, we'd have Fly By Night - Signals in 5.1...

C'MON, Rush!!!!!

Btw (mostly for Kevin): Burningshed and stevenwilsonhq are not the same entity (maybe your previous post only meant that SW is associated with Burningshed), I wouldn't say Burningshed is his primary site. But, in any case, it is worth checking both, compared to Amazon, Ebay, Discogs, 5point1.com, etc.

E.g. researching In the Court of the Crimson King, 40th Anniversary CD/DVD-A combo - it is tough to find on Amazon - the way they list titles can be somewhat ambiguous - it is currently $19.11+sh on stevenwilsonhq, but only $16.80+sh on Burningshed. EBay $23.79+sh.

Point is, it's worth cross-referencing sites if money is an object.

Listening to Opeth's Watershed in DTS 5.1 right now. Yuuuummmm...

I did not know the prices changed between those sites, good tip.  :)

Lots and lots and lots of surround albums to listen to here at the house and some more coming in the mail!!!

Listened to Gentle Giant - Power and the Glory last night. Bottom line is I like it and will be exploring it. Not sure what I was expecting... I would say they are on the lighter side of things. Imagine if America became more weird and noodly. Or like the lighter moments of ELP. Lyrics tend to be a little vague or disjointed - fine for prog. Music is overall very "smooth." I've never heard the stereo album, but this 5.1 mix sounds very cool to these ears.

I do enjoy that collecting 5.1 is a reason for me to listen to bands I've never heard and would not have sought out. It is an adventure.

Yes - Relayer: wish kick drum and bass were a little bolder. Not crazy about the album. Will be an interesting, though infrequent listen over the years.

PT - FoaBP: holy hell. Fucking gorgeous. This might get worn out.

In Absentia doesn't have a lot of surround wow, but the instrument placement is exactly as all surround recordings should be.

Deadwing is a great album, and he got a bit brave with the surround without being gimmicky.  FoaBP and The Incident are probably the best PT surround discs (for the surround effect).  FoaBP mix isn't as strong as on others, and the music on The Incident isn't as strong as other albums.  I think SW perfection didn't occur until he went solo.  Grace and Raven are both practically flawless.

I have some No-man on the way. Starting to track Grace prices. I think I have In Absentia on the way. Starting to track Deadwing, Storm Corrosion and probably a few other titles involving SW. Too tired to consult the spreadsheet tonight... :D

Have The Police debut, Diana Krall Girl in the Other Room and AC/DC Let There be Rock to listen to when I have time, plus whatever shows up tomorrow. Been binging lately...

Sitting around unlistened to:

Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection [Junction?]
The Police - debut
Foos - In Your Honor (I think only the acoustic disc is in 5.1)
Iron Maiden - Dance of Death
Bruce Dickinson - Balls to Picasso
PT - Lightbulb Sun
No-man - Schoolyard Ghosts (some SW thing, I think)
Yes - Fragile
Diana Krall - The Girl in the Other Room

Thankfully I have 2 - 3 weeks off coming up!

I'll check my spreadsheet when I get my laptop running again in a couple of days (spilled a beer on it...)

Guaranteed it was under $33, because I'm staying under my most-spent figure right now.

$33 would be a good price.  Hard to find them new for under $50.

I know, but with the rumors that SW wants to redo it someday and the game I'm playing trying to find inexpensive discs, I'll hold off for now.
I could live to regret it!

There's a few decent prices on Amazon...

http://www.amazon.co...8&condition=all

The Great Sky offering is probably best, "like new" is worth the extra $5 IMO.

No-man - Schoolyard Ghosts

Find it.

Ambient, with some punchy, aggressive moments. Solemn. Saddening. Beautiful.

Look forward to the next 99 listens...
