A lot of Americans missed out on this Canadian band the first time around back in the 90s. If you did too, do yourself a favor and check out their new album, 'Ghosts'.

This is one of the best written albums over the last decade, full of ear-worms and catchy riffs. Their style is what I would call "Pop-gressive", with time changes, pregnant pauses and elements of Metal thrown in for good measure.

Make sure you listen to these all of the way through. You'll be missing out on some cool shit, yo!

Good news. I have, and still listen to, the first two albums. I'll check it out.

What about Albatross? Any good?

Albatross is good too, but not quite as adventurous. They seemed to be dipping their toes in the pool with their more traditional sound before putting Ghosts together.

Albatross...

Always thought it was sad that Big Wreck never took off, while a contemporary of theirs, Nickleback  :circleearcrazy: did.

Thanks!  Never heard of them.  Sounds good.  Mixture of sounds from: U2/Police/DT/Rush to my ears...

There are some 6-7 minute tracks that are worth all 6-7 minutes.  Brilliant.

The Thornley/Doherty songwriting team seems to have found their niche. I was always a huge fan of their first two albums, but Ghosts has taken everything that was great about BW and made it even better.

Glad some of you found something new to listen to.  :2 thumbs up:

I'm picking up some definite Zep vibes here and there.  One example would be the last third of "Hey Mama".  Do you hear it, Casey?

Yeah, Zep shows up in subtle places on their tunes. I read somewhere in an interview years ago that Thornley is a huge fan.

Some more Zep sounds in the chorus' and bridges of this older song...

Live BW is hard to find, especially with good sound quality. Here's a recent performance of their first US hit, 'The Oaf'...

"That Song" off the first Big Wreck album "In Loving Memory of..." is his finest moment from a superb album IMO
