Blazing Saddles. Young Frankenstein. The Producers. Stir Crazy etc.

He was such a funny guy and holds a special place with me because the first movie I saw in a theatre was Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. Not a big deal for some, but we didn't go to church on Sunday AND went to see a movie in a theatre, which was verboten at the time by the denomination we attended.

Scarred and fascinated in one event.

RIP, Gene.

They said I could be anything, so I became a disappointment.

Yes, he was very prolific and in some terrific movies.  I loved Silver Streak, too.

Grateful to him for the memories...

Willy Wonka was also an important movie-going event in my life. And then experiencing the Wonka/2112 sync decades later was icing on the cake and totally mind-blowing.

Hey there goes Alex. He's loaded with money. Wow he's really set himself up great.

More appropriate for the WOW Music Facts thread, but Gene was credited with playing the congas on this Talking Heads song:

Phyllis Schlafly...dead

Bye Phyllis, while your bullshit will probably live on for a while, at least you're no longer around to promote it.

Harsh third line...

Stanley Dural, Jr has died. You probably knew him better as Buckwheat Zydeco.

Legendary golfer Arnold Palmer died at 87 today.  Surprised to learn he was that age...

Thanks for the great years of golf!
