^^^ Louise Post lives a few doors down from my friends' house. Chatted with her briefly some weeks ago while she was out walking her dog. Nice lady. (That's right. I name-dropped. Deal with it. :P)

I just saw Alice Cooper in Kalamazoo.  Nita Strauss tore the stage to shreds!  She has a great stage presence and can play with the best of the shred rock guitarists.  Plus, she's dang hot looking... I met the band after the show and she's super nice and cool, too.  I asked her to marry me but I think she's already taken...

+1

She is also the subject of the Foo Fighters’ “Everlong”

Not sure about playing the guitar all that well.... and I'd rather listen to Babymetal... but this Japanese Girl Fab Four is still around, and I could watch this all day.

I understand how girls in 1964 must have felt.

Trying to figure out which one is cutest is like trying to figure out how the stairs in an MC Escher painting work.

Finally I like how the bassist is almost as big as her bass.

Oh yeah-Girlschool!  Here's a vid from earlier days long before Jackie joined the band:

Ah the late, great Kelly Johnson. I met her outside the club where I saw them play in Newcastle in 1983. She gave me a guitar pick. She was so friendly.

There are some phenomenal female guitar players but I find that a lot of the good-looking girl players who get attention on YouTube and elsewhere are bar band quality or worse.

Here's a properly talented player, though I prefer her jazz stuff. But that sort of thing goes over most of your heads.

In a move only rivaled in magnitude by "Dylan goes electric", Jess Greenberg has chucked her acoustic guitar for an SG.

Her DD string is absolutely in tune.

Since there's no Women That Play Violin Well thread, I'll place this one here.  Zoom to 1:50 if you want to skip Dweezil's yapping.

I recently discovered this lady, Sarah Longfield.
She plays the 8-string.  And does some interesting stuff with it.

Here she is breaking up a sausage-fest of other YouTube musicians on a collaborative song that they jammed and wrote in something like three days.  That 5/8 intro at 338 bpm?  That's her improvising.  And then she djents.

(And yes, in the second video, that's Adam Neely, jazz bassist, classing up the metal joint)

labente deinde paulatim disciplina velut desidentes primo mores sequatur animo, deinde ut magis magisque lapsi sint, tum ire coeperint praecipites, donec ad haec tempora quibus nec vitia nostra nec remedia pati possumus perventum est.

First our declining morals slid, bit by bit, and then our very national spirit.  Then the collapse became greater and greater, and our principles began to go, until at last, it has come to this age, in which we can bear neither our crimes nor the cure for them.
